Blogging is a funny activity. Different or unusual sights will usually generate some immediate thought on what I may post but I need to keep reminding myself that regular happenings can still be worth considering. Take the latest outing: a few days away in the Tardis for an extended bike ride & I decided to Tweet a pic of the Tardis with Bromptons at the ready.
Lo & behold, some considerate readers responded with comments on the Tourist Park setup. Hmmm… another “taken for granted” event that deserves more? Hence my little video attempt on touring the park on a Brompton. (Apologies for wobbles, etc – this GoPro lark is another one of those, “How hard can it be?” ponderings that will/may take some time to overcome.)

Just beginning to catch up on all things Brompton, but must comment on how much I’ve been admiring your Tardis (and your clever use thereof). We were longing for a similar set-up, but our long-time VW mechanic told us that parts are virtually impossible to get in North America, thus signalling his extreme reluctance to tackle the upkeep. Bah. (Though this does make reading your own adventures extra appealing!)
Glad to hear from you again, Brommie. Bit surprised of the paucity of VW vans/parts for you? With the popularity of all series here (T1 originals through to the latest T5) I imagined them world-wide? I guess I shouldn’t mention our Tardis is the 4-Motion, turbo diesel version? It’s a great talking point (like the Bromptons) when traveling.

I’m afraid that the only way to one-up you in this case would be to outfit a vintage VW microbus, but then I still wouldn’t be able to get parts in North America!
I don’t know why VW had so much trouble with these in this part of the world. It never seemed as if there were many around, even when they were sold here. I think the T3 was the last available in the USA, ending in the early 2000s. (Instead we ended up with the country flooded with all those horrible American minivans!)
Aah, now that makes sense – but fortunately(?) we don’t have a local manufacturer that will crowd out quality imports. Unfortunately(?) we do seem to have an active refurbishment industry that will produce “like new” T1s, etc – & I must keep telling myself I don’t need an historic VW?
